It was with great pleasure that Deppy Vasileiadis Foundation supported Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s mission in enhancing community awareness, through the provision of 5 school field trips for children living on the borders of Tsavo National Park, with these trips taking place in early 2022. More specifically, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Community Outreach Officer was able to offer five groups of students the opportunity to experience Tsavo and to better acquaint them with their wild world.
Essentially, the Trust is working to connect Kenya’s children with their natural world, so they not only appreciate it, but also find joy in it.
As Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Community Outreach Officer, Samuel, adequately put it, “The fact remains that almost all of wildlife threats are anthropogenic in nature and this is the platform where we anchor our teachings on sustainable conservation whenever we take them out for the adventures.”
We are very happy that we assisted in this project, ending up teaching a total of 157 students about sustainability and how to peacefully keep wildlife away from their homes without harming them.
